Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points or channels in the human body with the aim of correcting imbalances in the flow of Qi flowing though the body’s acupuncture channels. By correcting these imbalances and/or blockages, it helps to restore the body’s state of balance and well-being, thus good health. Acupuncture is widely used as a drug-free way to relieve pain and to treat other conditions – both acute and chronic.
Acupuncture treatments are predominantly Nagano Style, which is a gentle acupuncture technique using very fine gauge needles.
Acupuncture sessions are one-on-one, where I dedicate your appointment entirely to you. This ensures that I will have the opportunity to understand your needs better and discuss dietary, lifestyle, exercise and stress management modifications as required.
Chinese herbal medicine
Chinese herbal medicine involves the use of a combination of herbs, many of plant origin, to create a formula. A formula will take into account the individual therapeutic action of each herb and well as the effects when combined together. It maximises the effectiveness for treating a particular condition, while counteracting and minimising the unwanted effects of an individual herb.
Herb consult in Preston can be incorporated within your acupuncture session or as a stand alone session.
Herbs dispensed in Preston are in the form of granules which will be dispensed on the day of your consultation. The formulation is specifically designed to address your personal needs. This granules will be dissolved in hot water and taken as a tea at a prescribed frequency.

Moxibustion
Moxibustion is the application of heat therapy on or near the skin, often through the burning of moxa wool, made of dried mugwort leaves (Artemisia vulgaris), or other substances to warm the Channels, promote blood flow and the function of the organs. The use of this heat therapy has been a well established practice since the 3rd century BC.
Moxibustion if used, will be applied during your acupuncture session.

Cupping
Cupping refers to the application of cups (often made of glass or plastic) to create a vacuum to relax the muscles, improve blood flow, and to draw out toxins from the body. Cups can be applied with different pressure, and can be applied on areas of pain or tension, or on specific acupuncture points on the body. Typically, marks may remain for several days after treatment, and the depth of the colour is an indication of the amount of stagnation present, or toxins being drawn out.
Cupping treatments are available as an adjunctive treatment with your acupuncture session, or as a stand alone appointment.

GuaSha
GuaSha, also known as scraping, is a therapeutic technique that utilises a smooth-edged tool that stretches and release connective tissues around tight areas to soften adhesions to help improve blood flow and lymphatic circulation as well as reduce pain. Treated areas may show marks that is known as "Sha" in Chinese medicine, and indicates the release of toxins from the body and indicative of the stagnation in the tissue. Treatments with Chee may include some aspects of GuaSha as an adjunctive treatment method when you book an acupuncture session.

Tuina
Tuina is a therapeutic massage technique based on Chinese medicine principles that is used to help address patterns of disharmony by stimulating Qi and Blood in the Channels. A variety of techniques within Tuina may be used. Treatments with Chee may include some aspects of Tuina as an adjunctive treatment method when you book an acupuncture session.
